
The junior high boys 6th ,7th ,& 8th grade basketball games scheduled for 11/14 will now be played on Monday, 11/13 due to an 8th grade field trip on Tuesday.

Parents of 8th graders: Tomorrow, Oct. 20th is the 8th grade trip to SVCC for their Playground Pathway visit. All 8th grade students must arrive at Aplington at 7:30am. We are leaving for SVCC before school starts. Students need a disposable sack lunch. We will return prior to school dismissing.

Thursday, Oct. 19th: There is a 6th grade boys basketball game today at Centennial at 4pm. There is an 8th grade boys basketball game at AFC at 4pm. There is no 7th grade game but players are asked to watch the 6th grade game if they're available.

Please take note of the following change to the District calendar:
Polo schools will dismiss at 2:00 on Friday, November 10th. This dismissal will be after the Veterans Day assembly at Centennial Elementary.

Here are some changes for Junior High Basketball:
AFC has only an 8th grade team this year. For both the away and home game against them, we will play 8th at 4pm. No 7th grade game.
6th grade at Oregon on Oct 24th will be at Oregon High School, not Nash.
On the dates that Academic Bowl has a home meet, 6th will practice at Centennial unless otherwise noted. Those dates are 10/23, 11/6, 11/27.

Tomorrow night is CPO's Dinner Night Out at the Dixon McDonald's. Please join us from 4:00 - 8:00. Proceeds will go toward new Centennial playground equipment.

PCHS Student Council Doggy Dash tomorrow at 9am at the Polo Rehab and Healthcare Center. Costume Contest at 8:30am. "Ruff" it up. The event is on rain or shine.



Mr. Gorzny purchased pizza for the students who helped him clean up after the home football games. We are appreciative of the students and their willingness to help out!

The Polo/Peoria Quest football game scheduled for Saturday, October 14th in Polo is cancelled. Peoria Quest has forfeited the game.

On October 6th, 2023, the Polo Community School District received a generous donation from Harry Allen, Class of 1948. Mr. Allen donated to the school his 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. This vehicle will be used to transport students. The Polo Community School District thanks you for your generous donation!


Aplington boys basketball pictures are all at Aplington. Once pictures are done, 8th graders will go to Centennial and 7th graders will remain at Aplington for practice.

Tuesday, October 10, 2023: Junior High cheer practice is cancelled today.

Reminder: All 9th-11th grade students must bring their charger and Chromebook to school on Tuesday in preparation for testing on Wednesday. Senior's orange permission slips are also due Tuesday so their Wednesday absence can be excused.

10/4/23: Aplington student council fundraiser pick up is tomorrow, 10/5/23, right after school. If your child sold garbage bags, please make arrangements to pick them up.

A JV high school football game has been added to the schedule for Monday, October 9th against Amboy at home. 6pm start time.

Lee County Special Education will be hosting Jordan Toma on Tuesday night at 7:00. Please see the attached flyer for more info.


The Polo Community School District has a vacancy on the Board of Education. We will be accepting applications from now until October 16th at 4:00 p.m. We can not accept applicants from Buffalo Township due to it would cause a majority on the Board of Education. APO Polo Marco blankets are back! They are $25 each and we accept cash or checks made to APO. They are available to pick up in the Aplington office. We have one more order coming after this batch - but once these are sold we will not have more in the future.
