How do you spell....?
We hear those words many times a day in the classroom. While a traditional word wall has helped many students spell words throughout the years, the Science of Reading is suggesting something a bit different. Have you heard of a Sound Wall? A Sound Wall is a place for students to reference when they are spelling and reading. It is like a Word Wall, however the words here are grouped by their sounds! Check out the Sound Wall in Mrs. Hollewell's Reading Intervention classroom.

Mrs. Diehl implemented “Our Affirmation Station” in the Centennial Resource Room for the 2022-23 school year. An affirmation station is about creating an intentional space for students to affirm themselves. This is a way for students to encourage and support themselves and their classmates. Every day students can come into the Resource Room, pick out one or two affirmations, look at themselves in the mirror and say the affirmation three to five times. She has over 50 affirmations that she switches weekly, so the students have quite a variety to choose from!

Prior to break, students were busy working on projects to wrap up 1st semester.
In Consumer Education, students had to complete a final budgeting project where they had to plan and budget for housing, transportation, food, utilities, and a variety of other common expenses based on the salary of their desired career. Pictured is Thomas showing his transportation choice.
In Geography, students completed travel projects where they were required to plan a trip for two people. Students could choose any location and were required to create an itinerary for their trip and a slideshow presentation. Pictured in Kaleigh telling us about her destination, Prague, a place she has actually visited!
In World Civilizations, the class finished talking about the Enlightenment and then students had to complete projects on their chosen revolution. Pictured is Kailin, Jeffery, Logan, & Billy
